Look at that massive big scary hawk. It says everything you need to know about serial post-rockers Mogwai. Indeed the Hawk is Howling saw them at the beak of their powers (sorry) as they returned to entirely instrumental recordings after the slight vocal experiments on the likes of Mr Beast. It also reunited them with Andy Miller who had recorded their debut Young Team and their fellow Glaswegian, Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap) who designed the sleeve.

Recorded with Andy Miller at Chemikal Underground and mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom, ‘The Hawk Is Howling’ saw Mogwai return to a totally instrumental landscape on their sixth studio album. The album features the single ‘Batcat’.

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the release, the album will be made available as a newly remastered 2LP White Vinyl (limited to 4,000) on September 22nd, fifteen years to the day since the album’s original release.

The album was remastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios.
