Fresh debut album from Jakarta's hardcore punk unit, ZIP, is finally out on 12" vinyl!

'Model Citizen' is a culmination of ZIP’s profound yet unapologetic love for the core, disdain for authority and those in the position of abusive power as wellas a more personal expression towards urban isolation. The album consists of 13 tracks, 10 original tracks and 3 instrumental tracks - produced by 3 different producers (“Intro” by Torturewave, “Intermission” by Logic Lost and “Outro” by RMP of Divisi62). In terms of music, this debut full length is influenced by an unhealthy amount of USHC (especially in the Boston region), DC and NY respectively as well as UK and a slight playful dig on the Scandi scene. It’s raging hardcore punk rock, rolled up in one joint.

The lyrical nuance in this record is a wretched reflection and somehow socio-political premonition of what 2025 has brought thus far, especially within our collective consciousness as a crippling nation. New leader, same institutional bullshit, familiar pattern of the old Imperialist guards, media propaganda, inner city struggle & isolation - these components help fuel and complete the record, as told by Januar Kristianto as the principal writer for the lyrics. Apart from having a consistent anxious yet angsty mood throughout the record, there are few parts that also manage to give hints of positivity/unity vibes.
