Knats present A Great Day in Newcastle, a 45-minute exploration of North East working-class life, shaped through narrative songwriting and a distinctive Geordie jazz noir sound.

With the addition of poet Cooper Robson, the record leans into themes of substance abuse, crime and toxic masculinity, while maintaining a lightness rooted in Northern resilience. Robson’s spoken word threads through evolving compositions from Stan, groove-led arrangements and orchestration from King, and Ferg’s melodic instincts, marking a clear step forward in the band’s sound while still nodding to their rock roots.

Produced with longtime collaborator Geordie Greep, and featuring core members Sandro Shar (keys) and George Johnson (tenor sax), the album builds a rich, dynamic palette that moves between tension and release with ease.
